This year, Community Service Class students are serving our community in a different way. Traditionally, Lancers in this class would be assigned as teacher's aids throughout Burien's elementary and middle-schools. This year's class was not able to carry out their usual service to the community. Instead they amazed us with their creativity and resilience by developing their own semester long service projects.

Projects ranged from collecting items for teen mothers, to writing letters to the elderly and home-bound, and even making face masks for local shelters and hospitals. These Lancers really took it upon themselves to ensure their service projects responded to the immediate needs of our community far and wide. To help share what they learned and spread awareness of the needs of our community, students also documented their service journey.

Lancer seniors Sophia W. and Aimee W. focused their service on writing letters to the elderly and homebound. For their final projects, Sophia W. and Aimee W. vlogged about their service projects and reflected on the lasting impacts their service had on themselves and our larger community.
