With another school year comes many amazing new faces at Kennedy Catholic. We are extremely excited about the talented faculty and staff who have chosen to join us in fostering academic and spiritual success for our Lancer students!

Please enjoy a detailed interview with our new school chaplain, Fr. Jim Northrop. Fr. Jim has been a priest for over 20 years and currently serves as the pastor of St. Thomas Catholic church in Tukwila, where he guides people from many different cultures, languages and ways of life.

Q: What are you most excited for in this new chapter at Kennedy Catholic?
A: I am excited about working with the students and faculty at Kennedy Catholic, helping us all experience more joy and abundant life as followers of Christ. I have always enjoyed working with youth and was a junior in high school myself when I had a powerful conversion experience that opened the door to my vocation.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about your calling?
A: The most rewarding experience for me is when people begin to realize and experience the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit, moving away from being governed by a spirit of fear to living out of their dignity as children of God. So many people in the Church are surrounded by the message of God’s love but have yet to experience it. If I can help others experience this powerful love, it is an incredibly rewarding and joyful experience for me.

Q: What are you most passionate about?
A: I am most passionate about helping people rediscover the role of the Holy Spirit within the Church and the grace of Pentecost to help us face any challenges ahead.

Q: What has been your favorite part about working at Kennedy Catholic so far?
A: I am still pretty new but I am enjoying the opportunity to meet people and learn more about the community. People here have been incredibly friendly and welcoming!

Q: Outside of being priest, what are some things you really enjoying doing?
A: I enjoy fishing and hunting, listening to and creating music, hiking, and photography.
