It doesn’t get much better than a day of golf on a beautiful summer day - except if that golf tournament is benefitting the scholarship program at Kennedy Catholic High School.

The 2nd annual Lancer Golf Classic was held on August 16 at Washington National Golf course. It was a huge success with alumni golfers from every decade, current parents, current faculty and even current students on the links.

A generous donation from Demitri Pallis ’81 got golfers off to a great start with Bloody Mary tasters featuring his gourmet mix and seasoning. Golfers went on to play games throughout the course, including the opportunity for Lancer Alyssa Nguyen ‘19 to long drive for each golfer. Alyssa will be attending Gonzaga University this fall on a full-ride golf scholarship. She was the recipient of a DRO scholarship last school year as a Lancer.

We had an amazing array of sponsors, some returning and some new. They included the Derek R. Orozco Foundation as lead partner and sponsor, Big E Auto Rebuild, Stoneway Concrete, Corporate Promotions, The Renton Printery, Kenner Dental Group, Gear Driver, Black Rock Coffee Bar and the Kennedy Catholic Booster Club. Without their partnership, this tournament wouldn’t be possible. We are so grateful for their generosity.

After golfing, guests were invited back to the clubhouse for lunch and to accept awards for men and women’s long drive, closest to the pin and to hear from current scholarship recipients Carson and Gabriella. Congratulations to the winning team: Brett Matthew ’01, Neal Schmidt ’99, Kyle Uskevich ‘99 and current Lancer Noah D. Class of 2022. Clearly their past and current experience on the Lancer golf team paid off!

A very special thank you to Aaron Wiseman ’00 who won our 50/50 split raffle and then donated his winnings back to the school.

All of this was happening while our Alumni Relations Manager, Rebecca Nuffer was unexpectedly hospitalized awaiting her first baby. Future Lancer Nolan Nuffer joined the world on Friday, August 23 – a hearty congratulations and best wishes to Rebecca and her husband Michael. Rebecca spent hours coordinating the tournament to ensure a great day for everyone.

We want to offer our gratitude to everyone who sponsored, participated, and volunteered for contributing to our goal of ensuring students have access to a Catholic education at Kennedy Catholic. Thank you for making our 2nd Annual Lancer Golf Classic a hole in one!
