President/Principal Bio

Born and raised in New York, New York, Matthew C. Mohs attended the University of Notre Dame, where he studied history with a concentration in public service graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, Mohs signed up for the then-newly developed Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) and left for a co-educational Catholic high school in Hammond, Louisiana, where he fell in love with teaching.

After earning his Master of Arts in Teaching through ACE, Mohs accepted a fellowship at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs to study education policy and public management. It was at this time that he earned a second MA in public affairs and met his wife, Meghan. 

Mohs later joined the Minnesota Department of Families working with federal education programs and the emerging state and federal accountability systems. In 2004, Mohs was recruited by Saint Paul Public Schools to lead the district’s federal programs, where he progressed to Executive Director of Title 1 Funded Programs. Mohs was named the district’s Chief Academic Officer in 2012. Here he developed recommendations that led to legislative changes while fostering strategic partnerships for the benefit of St. Paul students and the state of Minnesota.

In 2014, Mohs returned to his high school, Saint Thomas Academy where he was headmaster for six years. Mohs was then ready for a new adventure, which he found 1,667 miles away in Burien, Washington.

Matt and Meghan Mohs have two children, Alex and Abby. Alex is currently following in his father’s footsteps at the University of Notre Dame while Abby is a junior at Kennedy Catholic. They live in Renton with their dog, Sadie.
