- Summer league tryouts: The boys program will have a varsity and junior varsity team compete in the Renton High School summer league, playing against some of the top area teams. There is an open tryout for these teams on Wednesday, May 29 from 3:00-4:30pm. Incoming freshman are invited, but please know that roster spots are limited, and with only two teams offered, it is not common for freshmen to be selected. Summer league games are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at Renton High School during the month of June. Participation on the summer team has no direct relationship to theofficial season next winter. During the regular season, the school offers three levels of play (varsity, junior varsity and c-team) which helps to provide more opportunities for developing players.
- Skills & drills camp: Coach Hoffman and staff will be holding an open, 3-day drop in clinic for incoming freshman and returning players. Workouts will be held June 25-27, from 10am-12pm daily. This is free opportunity open to all Lancers and a great way to meet the coaching staff and potential future teammates. No registration is necessary. Participants should bring court shoes, water and a willingness to work hard and be coached.
We typically offer three levels of competition - varsity, junior varsity and c-team - although final determination is made on an annual basis based on participation numbers and ability. Basketball is a cut sport.
Games schedules will be posted online through NPSLathletics.org.

After several years with Boeing he realized his true calling was to work with kids at the high school level. Don returned to college at Seattle University (’92) earning a Master’s Degree in Teaching.
As an athlete, he had a two year stint playing football at Wenatchee Valley College which was the #2 nationally ranked Junior College team in 1984. A team captain for the Loggers in 1986, he earned honorable mention All-League selection his senior year.
Don served as girls basketball Head Coach for twelve years. His teams won ten Seamount League championships, three District championships and qualified for the State tournament ten times.
Don accepted the Head Boys Basketball position in 2008. Accolades include:
5 Seamount League Championships
1 District Championship.
Top 16 in State seven times including two 7th place finishes a 5th place in 2016 and another quarterfinals berth in 2017.
Seamount League Coach of the Year: 2012, 2014 & 2015. NPSL Coach of the Year in 2018.
For Don, the best part about coaching at Kennedy Catholic are the relationships developed with players and other coaches alike. The wins and losses are a big part of the game but being able to work with the great kids at Kennedy Catholic provides him with drive and motivation. Lancers have great attitudes, are willing to work hard and bleed Red, White and Blue.
