Academic Supports
Academic Supports
Kennedy Catholic High School offers various types of support to students in their academic efforts. These services are open to students in all grades and are available free of charge.
FOCUS time
The time from 8:00-8:40 am is a daily period called Lancer FOCUS. FOCUS stands for Fostering Opportunity, Connection, Understanding, and Success.
The Lancer FOCUS period is considered part of the school day, and students are expected to take advantage of the opportunities offered during that time. Additionally, students may be required to attend for a variety of reasons.
Specifically, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, all teachers have reserved time from 8:00-8:40 am for academic support during Lancer FOCUS. This academic support time is reserved for tutoring, retaking tests, and completing make-up class activities.
Students with failing grades in any class are required to attend these hours and will be notified in the week preceding regarding any required attendance. Students who miss required class activities are expected to use this time to make up any missed work within the time specified by their teachers.
Teachers may require students to attend at this time at any point in the school year after communicating with parents and students via e-mail at least 24 business hours in advance. Students who do not attend the required academic support time will receive detention for each missed session.
Peer Tutoring
Peer tutoring is provided to Kennedy Catholic students by members of our school's chapter of the National Honor Society. Students interested in procuring a peer tutor should contact the National Honor Society Advisor, Mr. Barbarossa.
